WASHINGTON — U.S. Senator Mitt Romney (R-UT) met Wednesday morning with Judge Amy Coney Barrett, the President’s nominee to serve as Associate Justice on the Supreme Court of the United States.
Romney released the following statement after meeting with Judge Barrett:
“I enjoyed meeting Judge Barrett, and we had an informative, wide-ranging discussion about her impressive background and her judicial philosophy. I look forward to her upcoming testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee.”
Romney had been one GOP member that democrats had hoped would join them in calling for the replacement for Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg to happen after the election. Romney explained how he came to the decision to allow President Trump to name a nominee.
