Former Bingham star settling into big man role for the Utes

Just months ago, Branden Carlson returned home from his mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and immediately transitioned into collegiate ball for the Utes.

Eleven freshmen fill the Utah roster, Carlson being one of them.

Head Coach Larry Krystkowiak compares his freshmen getting settled as a "deer in the headlights" moment, but since Christmas, Carlson has grown out of that and has begun playing with more confidence. He's built his strength and has been playing the game low.

In the last two games, he contributed 23 points and 15 rebounds and looks to continue that through the final stretch of the season.
