Parents might shelve the Elf after learning about this effortless alternative

Utah mom and author Julie DeForest was sick of having to rack her brain for clever ways to keep her kids behaving throughout the holiday season. So instead of scanning Pinterest for a new way for the Elf to get into trouble, Julie wants you to kick back and enjoy quality time with your family this season. That's why she created, "Santa's Lazy Gnome."

The book is written by DeForest and illustrated by Andrew Laitinen. It comes with a Lazy Gnome, sent from Santa himself.

Says the website, "Adorable and easy to maintain. No hide & seek or silly games to keep this Santa helper around."

"The Lazy Gnome helps with the Naughty/Nice list. These mysterious friends report to Santa if you're naughty or nice, even when you're out of sight."

So if you want to add a pair of "eyes" to your home before the holidays, find the book and "helper" set here.
