Refreshing 'sips and snacks' made healthier for Summer

Summer fun sometimes means finding creative ways to stay fueled and hydrated. Nutritionist Trish Brimhall, RDN, CD, CLE shared the following suggestions to refreshment without the junk.

"I'm always preaching water, but sometimes plain water isn't enough when your summer fun takes you out in the heat or outdoor sports plans require some electrolyte replacement. I love Body Armor as a hydration option - you can get it in convenient team packs and with Body Armor Lyte, you get all-natural ingredients such as coconut water, potassium-packed electrolytes and no artificial colors or flavors. And with the Body Armor Lyte, you can hydrate without added calories or added sugar. "

"When it comes to fueling your crew with Summertime snacks, I have two suggestions - one for sweet and one for savory."

"When it comes to refreshing, sweet snacks this summer, consider freezing fruit of all kinds. Frozen grapes, berries, pineapple and stone fruits are nature's popsicles. Have an overripe banana? Don't make banana bread, freeze it, then dip in melted chocolate and chopped nuts or seeds and store in the freezer for the best frozen dessert ever."

"As for those salty or savory cravings, blend your veggies with your Greek yogurt and seasonings to power pack a dip that will pack a punch of delicious veggie goodness. Zucchini, peas, cucumbers and peppers blend wonderfully into dips."
