This recipe by Smith's Chef Jeff combines two favorite Italian meals - Ravioli and Lasagna.
1 lb. ground beef
1 lb. Italian sausage
1 tbsp. garlic, minced
Salt and pepper to taste
32 oz. favorite marinara sauce
24 oz. cheese ravioli, about 30 pieces
1 tsp. Italian seasoning
1 lb. shredded mozzarella
½ c. grated parmesan cheese
Chopped fresh basil and extra parmesan for garnish
1. Preheat your oven to 375. Spray a 9x13 baking dish with non-stick spray. In a large skillet over med-high heat, brown the beef and sausage. Add the garlic, season with a little salt and pepper and then drain the excess fat. Add the marinara and stir to combine.
2. Spread 1/3 of the meat sauce in the bottom of the baking dish. Place 15 of the ravioli in a single layer over the sauce in the baking dish. Spread another 1/3 of the sauce over the ravioli. Top with half of the mozzarella followed by half of the parmesan.
3. Place the remaining 15 pieces of ravioli over the cheese, followed by the rest of the sauce spread evenly. Spread the remaining cheeses on top of that, cover loosely with foil and place in the oven for 30 minutes. Remove the foil and bake another 15-20 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and beginning to brown. Remove from the oven and let sit for 10 minutes before 1. serving. Serve garnished with chopped basil and more parmesan cheese. Enjoy!
