Restaurant workers have been disproportionately impacted to the pandemic due to fewer people dining out.
Inspired by a similar initiative in Nashville, Utah Tip Challenge is a weekly grassroots fundraising campaign that began in August to help support restaurant staff with a surprise tip.
100 percent of what is donated each week is given as a gratuity to a different restaurant during a surprise visit.
The reaction and gratitude from staff and owners has been fantastic and emotional.
So far, every restaurant owner has paid it forward -- donated to the following week's challenge.
