Officials at a community meeting Monday told citizens that Josh Powell was not living in the home where he and his two sons died, reports the Tacoma News Tribune.

Pierce County Sheriff’s detectives Gary Sanders and Sgt. Denny Wood said that Powell was merely using the home as a place to stage visits with his children under the auspices of Child Protection Services.

The meeting was held at Graham Fire & Rescue as a way to answer questions and help community members deal with the events. On February 5, Powell killed himself and his two sons, Charlie, 7, and Braden, 5, by setting off an explosion at the home.
