A three-alarm fire in the Avenues neighborhood left 35 people looking for a place to stay Thursday night.
The fire broke out just after 10:30 p.m. at the Fountain View Apartments at 230 North F Street. It started in the boiler room on the top floor of the building. Of the 24 units, only the one directly beneath the boiler room had water and smoke damage.
No one was injured, but residents are not allowed to return home yet until an inspector can look over the structure.
"Although the structure is intact and because there was no fire and smoke damage in any of the apartments, firefighters will escort residents in to get the things they need for tonight to be able to go stay somewhere else," said Scott Freitag, of the Salt Lake City Fire Department on Thursday night.
The Red Cross is helping residents find temporary shelter.
Firefighters are still investigating the cause of the fire.
