The following is a press release from the Utah Department of Transportation.

SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) will close a portion of Bangerter Highway on the nights of Thursday March 8 and March 9 to accommodate the installation of bridge girders for the new interchange at the 7800 South intersection. Both nightly closures will be between the hours of 10 p.m. and 6 a.m.  with all traffic lanes opening the morning of Saturday, March. 10.

On Thursday night, March 8 beginning at 10 p.m., double lane closures are scheduled for both northbound and southbound Bangerter Highway. East and westbound traffic on 7800 South will also be closed, and traffic will be directed to temporary ThrU Turn intersections.

On Friday, March 9, also beginning at 10 p.m. northbound Bangerter will be closed to traffic and motorists must turn eastbound at 7800 South and follow posted detours. Southbound Bangerter traffic will be restricted to one through lane and one right turn lane only. Eastbound and westbound traffic on 7800 South will also be closed, and traffic will be directed to temporary ThrU Turn intersections.

This work is part of the Bangerter Highway Design-Build project, which converted the intersections of 6200 and 7000 South to Continuous Flow Intersections (CFIs) and is building a grade-separated interchange at 7800 South. The CFIs were completed this past winter, with the interchange scheduled to be complete by late summer.
