A Salt Lake City man was pronounced dead after he was found face down in a pool at the hot springs near the base of Ogden Canyon.
68-year-old Stephen J. Webster was visiting the hot springs with some Salt Lake-area friends. His friends were in one pool and he was in another one nearby. The group had been in the pools a little over an hour when one of the victim’s friends came to check on him and found him face down in the pool.
The victim’s friend pulled him from the pool and a passerby called 911. Weber County Sheriff’s deputies and Ogden Fire officials performed CPR at the scene. The victim was taken to McKay-Dee Hospital in Ogden, where he was pronounced dead. An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death.
The Weber County Sheriffs Office investigated the incident.
