Tooele County wildfire contained after 40 acres charred

TOOELE COUNTY — Firefighters gained control of a wildfire in Utah’s West Desert Wednesday evening after a lightning strike sparked the blaze at about 7 p.m.

Crews were able to contain the burn to 40 acres of charred land just south of the Dugway Proving Grounds.

Firefighters say no buildings were threatened and no one was hurt.. They say they had to move fast to keep the blaze from growing into a major fire.
