Governor Gary Herbert joined the families of fallen service members to thank them for their sacrifices at a Memorial day service at Camp Williams.

The Memorial Day service was held in the chapel at the Utah Veterans Cemetery and Memorial Park. The service was preceded by patriotic music from the 23rd Army Band, a rifle exhibition by the Northridge Air Force ROTC and a performance by the Salt Lake Scots bagpipers.

The formal program in the cemetery chapel included remarks by Herbert and a presentation from one of Utah's Gold Star fathers, Mr. Brad Halliday.

At the conclusion of the chapel service, there was a wreath laying ceremony and a 21 gun canon salute provided by the 65th Fires Brigade, TAPS and Amazing Grace.
