Fireworks restricted on state, federal and unincorporated private lands

SALT LAKE CITY – New fire restrictions have banned the ignition of fireworks on all state, federal and unincorporated private lands.

Fire managers from the Utah Division of Forestry, Fire and State Lands; Bureau of Land Management; Forest Service; National Park Service; Bureau of Indian Affairs and the US Fish and Wildlife Services released a statement Thursday closing those areas to fireworks.

“Simply put, if you live in the county, on unincorporated private lands, you cannot set off fireworks along with several other restrictions,” the statement reads.

Governor Herbert is also calling for local communities to look at their fireworks ordinances in light of the very high fire danger across the state. He will hold a news conference on Thursday afternoon to address fireworks restrictions.
