SALT LAKE CITY – The Girl Scouts of Utah got together on Saturday to promote positive role models for girls.
Organizers showed the documentary “Miss Representation,” which premiered at Utah’s 2011 Sundance Film Festival and investigates the often negative images of women in mass media. Directors say women are often viewed as over-sexualized in media and girls need to remember what really makes them beautiful.
“We want to help them make healthy choices now and also to learn to love themselves so building that confidence is really key and helping them have the courage to be themselves is really key here,” said Kabi Catalano, Girl Scouts of Utah.
