BOX ELDER COUNTY, Utah – A deer hunter is in critical condition after a gunshot wound to his chest.
Deputies with the Box Elder Sheriff’s Office say the 53-year-old man was getting a block powder rifle from the backseat of his truck on Sunday morning when the gun discharged, hitting him in the upper right chest.
The man drove himself to an area south of Snowville, Utah, near the Utah-Idaho border, where he called for help.
An ambulance took him to an Ogden hospital where he is in stable but critical condition.
