Syracuse couple’s death investigated as murder-suicide

SYRACUSE, Utah — Police released the identity of a couple who were found dead inside their home Monday morning.

Syracuse Police say Gary and Jessica Lucero were discovered dead inside their home at 903 South and 2125 West. They are investigating the deaths as a possible murder-suicide, according to Lt. Tracy Jensen.

Jensen says a final determination will be made when they receive the medical examiner’s report, which is expected Tuesday.

Syracuse Police say they received a call at about 8 a.m. from Gary’s sister. Officers entered the home and forced their way into a bedroom where they found the bodies.

Police say the deceased couple is in their mid-40s and have three children, one still living at home. He is staying with a relative while police complete their investigation.

Police say the couple is known and well liked in the neighborhood. Gary was a coach for a youth football peewee league as well as a youth lacrosse league.
