Salt Lake residents invited to participate in cancer study

SALT LAKE CITY — The American Cancer Society is asking for Salt Lake City volunteers to help them conduct a cancer prevention study. The study is looking for 1,500 people to participate.

The American Cancer Society included the following information in a press release regarding the study:

Salt Lake residents have only four days left to enroll in the Cancer Prevention Study-3 (CPS 3) by the American Cancer Society. Enrollment events are slated for Wednesday, Nov. 14, from 7 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Questar Center and from 4p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the University of Utah Medical Center.

To be eligible to enroll in CPS-3, men and women should:

    • be between 30 and 65 years old
    • have no personal history of cancer (this does not include basal or squamous cell skin cancer)
    • be willing to make a long-term commitment to the study which simply involves completing periodic follow-up questionnaires.

On average, American Cancer Society Cancer Prevention Studies begin only once every 30 years.
