SOUTH JORDAN, Utah – Police say a South Jordan man lied about having cancer, then used the money he got to take his family to Disneyland.
Jeffrey Averett is charged with communications fraud, a third-degree felony.
Police say he told them he got nearly $600 from a church fundraiser and police say his wife got over $1,000 based on her husband’s perceived illness.
Averett is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 10.
