SALT LAKE CITY — Utah Highway Patrol said their K-9 service dog ‘Tank’ was struck and killed by a semi on Friday.
UHP said at about 10:30 a.m. a K-9 officer stopped on the side of eastbound Interstate 80, near Bangerter Highway, to allow Tank to relieve himself outside.
The officer said Tank, for some unknown reason, darted out into the freeway and was hit by a semi truck.
UHP said Tank, a Belgian malinois, was 11 years old.
