SALT LAKE CITY — A judge ordered a Murray man Tuesday to stand trial in the beating death of his girlfriend last December.

Prosecutors say Daniel Folsom murdered his girlfriend, Lisa Sherman. Sherman died as a result of injuries sustained after being beaten, according to prosecutors.

Folsom has previously said that it was Sherman who was the aggressor during their eight-year relationship.

The state called several witnesses to the stand.

First to testify was the neighbor whose Murray home Sherman reportedly crawled to after the incident. He said she was swollen and showed obvious signs of pain.

The neighbor testified that Sherman had said Folsom had beaten her up and was out of control.

Detectives and first responders also took the stand where they described Folsom’s intoxicated state and blood splattered clothing.

Friends and family attending the preliminary trail wore purple in memory of Sherman.
