WEST JORDAN, Utah – A West Jordan man is hospitalized in very critical condition after a fight led to a shooting Saturday morning.
West Jordan Police say that about 1:30 a.m. a couple in their 20s was arguing outside their apartment at the Woodgate Apartments, located near 3851 West Cobble Ridge Drive (6960 South) in West Jordan.
A neighbor walking his dog in the area tried to intervene and got involved in the argument. At some point during the incident, he pulled out a gun and, in the struggle, it went off and struck the boyfriend in the hip.
The bullet traveled towards the man’s femoral artery. He was transported to a local hospital where he underwent surgery. He is now in very critical but stable condition.
The man who intervened sustained a serious wound above his eye. He was also transported to the hospital.
The exact nature of the incident is still under investigation.
