Utah tops the nation in volunteering

SALT LAKE CITY – For the seventh year in a row, Utah ranks number one in volunteering.

A report from Volunteering and Civic Life in America says that more than 837,000 volunteers served a total of 144 million hours, which is the equivalent of more than 69,000 full-time employees.

The city of Provo had the highest volunteer rate in the nation, with nearly 58 percent of adults volunteering. Ogden ranked second overall. Salt Lake City was fourth.
