SALT LAKE CITY – Two men were arrested after police say they held two women at gunpoint and stole their purses.

The robberies happened in two separate locations, but police believe they’re the same suspects. The first happened in South Salt Lake and the second in Millcreek at around 2 a.m.

Police say that in both cases, the women were getting out of their cars when the suspects snatched their purses. The suspects then took off an a red Lincoln.

Officers later found that suspect vehicle and arrested the suspects.

“When they recognized this detective as being a police officer they left. He followed them to this location, pulled them over,” said Salt Lake City Police Lt. Steve Shreeve.

Police say they found two handguns and marijuana in the car. Two suspects were arrested on drug and gun charges. Their names were not released.
