SALT LAKE CITY -- Salt Lake City Police are looking for a suspect after a pistol came out during a fight near a downtown night club early Saturday morning.

Lt. Scott White of the Salt Lake City Police Department said officers came across several people engaged in a fight shortly after 1:30 a.m. near Club One, located at 400 South 180 West. One suspect allegedly pistol-whipped several other people during the incident.

“Two of them were actually being pistol whipped, actually struck in the face with a pistol,” White said. “At some point our suspect in this ran across the street, firing a couple of shots as he ran, not at anyone, but just I think, in the air.”

White said the suspect was not found, and he was described only as a possibly light-skinned, African-American male.

White said the two victims weren’t seriously injured, and they declined transport to a hospital for treatment. White said it is unclear whether or not the victims knew the assailant.
