PLEASANT GROVE -- A woman who went missing from an assisted living center was found after a search by hundreds of volunteers.
Police said 78-year-old Vienna Hawkes was found inside Pleasant Grove High School about four hours after she had gone missing.
Lt. Britt Smith of the Pleasant Grove Police Department said the cold weather, coupled with the woman’s health issues, placed her in jeopardy.
“She suffers from dementia, but she also suffers from another condition,” Smith said. “The way I understand it, she has a brain injury that doesn’t allow her to feel the cold.”
Smith said the woman was lucky to have found a warm place to shelter.
