Irish County Approves Drunk Driving Permits

IRELAND (KTVI) – A controversial measure that would allow drunk drivers to get driving permits was approved by the Kerry City Council on Tuesday, according to The HuffingtonPost.com.

According to The Guardian, the permit will allow rural drinkers to drive after having “two or three drinks.”

The measure would give a special permit for driving in sparsely populated areas while intoxicated. Five council members voted for the measure while three others voted against it.

The bill’s sponsor, Councillor Danny Healy-Rae argued said people who drank and drove in rural areas had “never killed anyone.”
