RUSH VALLEY, Utah — A residential structure caught fire in the Rush Valley area of Tooele County Tuesday morning.

The fire started shortly after 9 a.m. The homeowner called 911 after awakening to the sound of crackling.

A fire marshal is investigating the cause. The estimate of damages is unclear, but the home has been ruled a total loss, according to Wade Mathews, Tooele County Government public information officer. He said high winds and an issue with the water supply contributed to the spread of the fire.

Two adults were displaced by the fire and the American Red Cross was contacted to help.

The fire did not affect any neighboring homes and there were no injuries reported.

Wade Mathews of the Tooele County Sheriff’s Office said the Rush Valley Fire Department, the Tooele City Fire Department and the Tooele County Fire Department all contributed in the firefighting efforts.
