DUCHESNE, Utah — A 10-year-old boy died Wednesday morning after he was struck by a semitrailer.
It happened at approximately 7:30 a.m. on State Road 87, north of Duchesne. The boy was riding his bicycle on the southbound shoulder of the highway when a semitrailer passed him.
He rode his bike into the lane of travel and was struck by another semi-trailer which could not avoid hitting him, according to a statement from the Utah Department of Public Safety.
Attempts to resuscitate the boy at the scene were unsuccessful. He was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The weather and road conditions were clear and dry at the time of the crash. No citations were issued.
