MILLCREEK, Utah -- 12 cars and a Utah Transit Authority bus were involved in a wreck Tuesday afternoon in Millcreek.

It happened shortly before 1 p.m. at 3900 S State St. Some minor injuries were reported.Unified police said the accident was caused by a sleepy driver, who slammed into multiple vehicles that were parked at a red light.

The driver was in a GMC truck, and police said the man didn't make an effort to brake as he slammed into the other vehicles.

Accident victim Cecil Pierce said it was a high-impact accident.

"He hit so hard, as you can see, it knocked the front wheel off of this one, and you can see the A-frame was dragging," he said.

Lt. Justin Hoyal said the accident should serve as a reminder to people not to drive while tired.

"It's a really sad reminder to have a situation like this, to remind the public: If you're fatigued, if you're tired, pull over. Don't keep driving," he said.

Police are still interviewing the driver, and he may be cited in the accident.
