Pedestrian hit, critically injured crossing street in Midvale

MIDVALE, Utah — A 23-year-old woman was critically injured Tuesday night when she was hit by a car while trying to cross the street in Midvale.

It happened around 9:30 p.m. at 8000 S State St. Police said the woman was with her friend at the time of the incident and they may have been drinking.

Police are now looking for the victim’s friend.

“The companion that was with her left the scene. We’re trying to locate the companion that was with her, and we’re also investigating the possibility that alcohol may be involved,” said Lt. Steve Shreeve, Unified Police Department.

The driver of the vehicle, a 20-year-old woman, stayed at the scene and cooperated with police. The victim’s name was taken to Intermountain Medical Center. Her name was not released.
