A Utah online publication decided to prank its readers by publishing a fake story on April Fools Day about the LDS Church buying Utah State University and turning it into BYU-Logan.
Cache Valley Daily cites “increasing tension between Aggie fans and Cougar fans” as the reason for the purchase.
The story went viraleven though the last sentence said “Of course, Monday is April 1st and we hope Aggie fans can appreciate a good April Fool’s joke when they read one!”
A video of a young Aggies fan also went viral, after Nikki Redd Ekstrom posted a video saying “April’s fools prank gone bad… Colin was very upset to find out Utah State was turning into BYU Logan.”
Within half a day, the video has several hundred shares. Watch it here.
