Hyrum man sustains severe burn injuries

HYRUM, Utah -- An 81-year-old Hyrum man sustained third degree burns to 90 percent of his body Wednesday.

Deputies from the Cache County Sheriff's Office responded to the home of Ray Jessop after they received a report of a person who was engulfed in flames.

Jessop was burning weeds on his back fence with small propane torch when his clothing caught on fire. Jessop was rushed to Logan Regional Hospital, then transported by a medical helicopter to the University of Utah Burn Center in Salt Lake City.
