WEST JORDAN, Utah — An 18-year-old woman was taken by helicopter to the Intermountain Medical Center Friday after a collision that forced the closure of Redwood Rd.
Lt. Rich Bell, West Jordan PD, said the victim was trying to make a left turn from 7600 S to go north on Redwood Rd. when she pulled into the path of a silver sedan traveling southbound.
The damage to the victim’s vehicle, a red Eclipse, was so severe that she had to be extricated, Bell said. She was flown to the hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries.
The other driver, a 20-year-old male, was treated at the scene and did not require hospitalization.
Both directions of Redwood Road were closed from 12:15 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. as the West Jordan PD’s major accident team investigated the scene.
Bell said neither alcohol nor excessive speed appeared to be factors in the crash.
