SALT LAKE CITY – Residents from five apartment units were displaced after a two-alarm fire in west Salt Lake City.

The fire was at the Sky Harbor Apartments, located near 1876 West North Temple, and started at around 7:05 p.m.

Salt Lake City Police say the fire started in a building that contained eight apartments with four on the ground floor and four on the second floor.

Police say the occupant of the second-floor unit where the fire started says he came home to see smoke coming from his window. He then entered the home, tried to put out the fire before evacuating.

That apartment sustained heavy fire, smoke and water damage. Two other second floor units sustained heavy smoke damage and two first floor units sustained heavy water damage.

The residents of those five impacted units were given places to stay at the apartment complex. No one was injured.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
