The Associated Press confirmed its Twitter account has been hacked, as the Twitter feed falsely tweeted there had been two explosions at the White House and President Barack Obama was injured.
Around 11:07 a.m. MDT, the official Associated Press Twitter account tweeted news about two explosions at the White House and that President Barack Obama was injured.
The tweet came after hackers made repeated attempts to steal the passwords of AP journalists, the Associated Press said on Tuesday.
White House spokesman Jay Carney is holding his daily press conference as usual.
The cyberattack is the latest in a string targeting international media organizations.
As of 11:15 a.m., the Associated Press Twitter account has been suspended.
