SANDY, Utah - The Alta High School boys soccer team won a dramatic match against their rivals, beating Brighton 1-0 in double overtime.
Alta senior Connor Sheffield scored the golden goal with just seconds remaining in the second overtime, with an amazing free kick that just bent inside the post.
"We practice it a lot," said Sheffield. "That might be the best I've ever hit it."
Brighton went into the match undefeated and ranked 11th in the country by MaxPrep.
Brighton is now 12-1 and 6-1 in region play. Alta is 13-1 and 7-1 in region play, with their only loss coming against Brighton earlier this season.
"Alta and Brighton is always a good game, and it feels good to come out on top," said Sheffield.
