EMERY COUNTY, Utah — Searchers located a body in the area near Orangeville on Saturday, and the body was discovered in the area where an Emery County man went missing in December.

Searchers organized by a Lieutenant with the Emery County Sheriff’s Office searched the area Saturday morning, and the body of 25-year-old Matthew Alan Larsen was found shortly after 10 a.m., according to a press release.

The Utah Highway Patrol dispatched a helicopter to lift the body out of the area, which is rugged and remote. Many of those who searched for the body are members of Larsen’s church.

Larsen was last seen in the Castle Dale area in December. Crews searched the area for Larsen after he disappeared, but they were hampered by winter weather.

The body was positively identified by the State Medical Examiner’s Office on Wednesday.
