MURRAY, Utah -- A 17-year-old girl was killed Monday night in a rollover crash on Interstate 215.
The crash happened around midnight on westbound I-215 near 700 West.
Utah Highway Patrol troopers said Taylor Have of Taylorsville lost control of a soft top Ford Mustang convertible and it rolled several times before crashing into a wall on the side of the freeway.
"The vehicle impact was quite severe, the vehicle rolled we believe three times and the driver was ejected," said Sgt. Donavan Lucas, Utah Highway Patrol.
Troopers said it appears Taylor was speeding at the time of the crash, but they don't think she was driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
"As far as we can tell, there's no impairment. Not sure if there was a seat belt," said Sgt. Donavan Lucas, Utah Highway Patrol. "We couldn't tell if there was a seat belt on at the time, it wasn't inside at the time."
Have recently attended Hillcrest High School in Midvale. Canyons School District spokeswoman Jennifer Toomer-Cook says counselors are at the school.
"It is a very sad situation, today we sent our district crisis teams over to the school to make sure students have to talk to, that staff has someone to talk to," Toomer-Cook said.
