PLYMOUTH, Utah – A boil order is in effect in a Box Elder County town facing a water contamination problem.
Plymouth Mayor Hal Mason says the Bear River Health District notified him on Friday afternoon that the town’s drinking water tested positive fore E. coli. It’s unclear how high that contamination level is.
Mason says town crews are flushing water lines and adding more chlorine to the water to clear out the bacteria. Residents are being told to boil all water.
Some of the residents in the town of 400 reported being sick on Friday, but there are no serious illnesses.
Mason believes the contamination could be related to a water main break and repair last week.
