(CNN)– A record number of moms are bringing home the bacon. According to a Pew Research Center study, mothers are the primary breadwinners in 40% of households. That’s a drastic change from 1960, when it was just 11%.
The “breadwinner moms” are made up of two groups:
-Married mothers who make more than their husbands
-Single mothers
The study attributes the change to more women in the workplace, women make up almost half of the US labor force.
