RIVERDALE, Utah – I-15 and I-84 will be closed in both directions near the I-84 bridge from 10 p.m. Saturday to 7 a.m. Sunday as crews work on the bridge.
Utah Department of Transportation Officials said the project is a planned reconstruction project on the bridge.
The closures will be between mile post 339 and mile post 341 on I-15, and from mile post 340 to mile post 82 on I-84. The same stretch of road was closed Friday night for the same project.
Vic Saunders, UDOT Region 1 spokesman, said they are replacing the deck of the bridge.
“On I-84, the bridge itself, last year the surface underneath began to spall, little pieces of concrete started to fall off, and so we did a project to shore that up, knowing that eventually it was all going to have to be replaced,” Saunders said. “The funding came. This year, we are replacing the entire bridge deck on the I-84 bridge.”
UDOT officials said there will be clearly marked detour routes for drivers to follow. They said the construction will not affect day-time drivers.
