SALT LAKE CITY – A woman was injured after a car struck her wheelchair and knocked her over while she was in a crosswalk Monday night.
Utah Highway Patrol officials said the accident happened at 8:55 p.m. at the bottom of the I-15 northbound off-ramp leading to eastbound 4500 South.
The driver of the vehicle didn’t see the woman as she entered the crosswalk in her powered wheelchair, and he hit her as he tried to turn right. The wheelchair was knocked over, and the woman injured her elbow. She was transported to a hospital as a precaution.
UHP officials said they are investigating the accident to determine if citations will be issued.
