PARK CITY, Utah – Utahns celebrated Olympic Day in Park City Sunday with everything from Nordic ski jumping to the opening of a new ski museum exhibit.
The exhibit features a collection of trophies, medals, pictures and ski equipment from the U.S. Women’s Ski Jumping Team.
Saturday’s festivities also included a big air show with Nordic ski jumping athletes. Carl Roepke, Utah Olympic Park guest services coordinator, said the show was a popular attraction.
“We had over 900, almost 1,000, people watch the Flying Ace All-Stars do a beautiful, choreographed freestyle show,” he said. “To kick it off, we had over a dozen Olympians here that were introduced just prior to the show.”
Utah Olympic Park’s festivities are part of more than 700 such events taking place across the country Sunday. Organizers said it’s all in preparation for the 2014 Olympic Games in Russia.
