SALT LAKE CITY -- Multiple units responded to a two-alarm structure fire Wednesday at Rocky Mountain Storage, located at 6555 West Frontage Road.

Firefighters from both Salt Lake City and West Valley City arrived on scene just after 7:30pm.

A garage was fully engulfed in flames and the storage manager's home which is part of the property was also on fire.

Jason Asay of the Salt Lake City Fire Department tells Fox 13 the garage is a total loss, but firefighters were able to save most of the home.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, but early indications are that the manager of the storage facility started the fire accidentally.

At the fire's peak, a large plume of thick black smoke could be seen from miles away. The Utah Department of Transportation closed SR-201 from 5600 West to 7200 West for a short time due to the fire, but reopened the road a short time later.
