SALT LAKE CITY – The only baby falcon to hatch at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building this year died Saturday.

Solo, the peregrine falcon, died from injuries sustained on July 3 after a high-speed impact into the north side of Zion’s Bank Tower.

The falcon’s injuries resulted in flaccid paralysis of both legs, incontinence and head trauma.

While some improvement was detected over the 10-day holding period, other systems began to shut down and he was found dead Saturday afternoon.

The falcon’s parents have been nesting in downtown Salt Lake City since 1984. For more information regarding the falcons, visit this Facebook page.
