SANDY — Police have identified a man whose body was found early Friday morning near the Jordan River.

The body of 40-year-old Justin C. Huntsman, of Draper, was badly decomposed and was taken to the Office of the State Medical Examiner for an autopsy.

Huntsman had been reported missing to Draper police on June 30.

Lt. Justin Hoyal, Unified Police Department, said Huntsman’s body was discovered by a driver who became stuck in the mud while traveling on a road in a wooded area by the river.

Police were called to the scene, near 9000 S 700 W, at about 1:14 a.m. Friday.

Police initially investigated the death as a homicide, but now say homicide does not appear to be a factor in the case.

The exact cause of death and other details about the case are still being investigated.
