Man killed after car hits concrete barrier

WEST VALLEY CITY – A man died when he crashed a car into a concrete barrier after running a stop sign in West Valley City Saturday.

Police said the accident happened at about 2:20 a.m. near 2100 South and 3600 West.

Police said the man, believed to be in his ‘30s, was northbound on 3600 West, and he ran a stop sign on South Frontage Road. The vehicle collided with a concrete barrier and rolled. The man was dead when police arrived on scene.

The name of the victim has not been released, pending notification of the man’s family. There were no other people in the car, and no other injuries were reported.

Police said the accident is under investigation, and they said it isn’t clear what caused the man to crash.
