Police identify man killed in Orem motorcycle wreck

OREM, Utah — A man died Saturday evening after he we was injured in a motorcycle wreck on University Parkway.

Orem Police Department officials said the accident happened just west of State Street on University Parkway at about 2:30 p.m.

Police identified the victim as 27-year-old Jal W. Oomrigar from Orem.

A Utah County deputy traveling east near 400 West saw a man on a bullet bike weaving in and out of traffic at up to 95 mph. The motorcyclist slowed down as he passed the deputy, but he sped off again. The deputy did not pursue the motorcyclist.

Police said farther down the street the motorcycle hit the back corner of a car as the motorcyclist tried to squeeze through the space between two vehicles. The man was thrown from the motorcycle. He sustained traumatic injuries and was taken to a local hospital, where he died just before 8 p.m.
