HANNIBAL, Mo. — Well, that wasn’t supposed to happen. A skydiver got a little too close at a weekend baseball game in Hannibal, Mo.
It happened Saturday during a pre-game show for the Missouri summer league’s Hannibal Cavemen.
A skydiver came in a little too fast, and a little too hard, and slammed into Mattingly Romanin, an infielder.
You can hear the crowd yell “Owww” in the YouTube clip (posted above.)
“Still in disbelief that actually happened,” Romanin tweeted later.
Apparently, players were told to not move during the stunt and were told to “trust” the skydivers wouldn’t hit them.
Oops!
What the video doesn’t show is one skydiver who successfully landed and another landed fine after this mishap.
Witnesses said the ball player was on the ground for a few minutes, but is happy to report he’s OK.
“I feel like I got kicked in the face yesterday, oh wait,” Romanin tweeted Sunday.
