U of U researchers debunk brain myth

SALT LAKE CITY -- University of Utah researchers are debunking a popular brain myth.

Researchers said it's not always true that left brained people are logical and detail oriented, and right brain people are creative and thoughtful.

Neuroscientists said there is no evidence with brain imaging that indicated that people are left or right brain thinkers.

"These brain regions that work more strongly together on the left side or on the right side are not the underlying cause of these personality traits," Jared Nielsen with the University of Utah said. "They don't tend to be that way in individuals."
